What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Microblading artists create natural looking hair strokes using a small hand-held blade loaded with semi-permanent pigment. The pigment is inserted into the Epidermis and due to the shallow depth of these strokes and fine precision of the microblading tool, allow for a more natural looking, believable brows.

What should I expect when it comes to healing?

Your brows will go through different stages in the 4-6 weeks that follow your treatment. For the first 2 - 3 days your microblading strokes will appear larger and darker. After this, swelling will reduce and your brows will return to the colour they were post treatment. After 1-2 weeks you will notice some flaking and some strokes will almost disappear. This is all part of the skin healing process, your microblading strokes will return within the 6 week period. You touch up is then performed to reinforce your strokes.

The treatment can take anywhere between 2 - 3 hours. We spend time mapping and shaping which can take up to 1 hrs. It is important to take our time to ensure the best result possible.

Microblading requires minimal upkeep. Once you have received your initial treatment, a touch up is required after 4-6 weeks. Thereafter, a refresher appointment is required around every 10-12 months (depending on your skin type and lifestyle).

Is numbing cream applied?

Yes! Some clients choose not to have numbing cream and this is ok too. We do not apply numbing until we have made the first pass (initial strokes). this ensures the numbing takes affect faster as the skin is already open.

Is there any down-time?

Following the correct aftercare is crucial for the best possible results. This means that you will need to avoid some activities for a short period of time. Wash your hair prior to treatment as you cannot wet your brow area for 3 days post treatment. Makeup on your brows should be avoided for 7 days, you can continue to wear makeup elsewhere. Exercising and Saunas are not permitted for 7 days post treatment. You will need to avoid steamy showers for 7 days and facials for 30 days. LED light therapy is not recommended for at least 30 days post treatment but should be avoided ongoing as it will fade your brows.
